Organic Based Fertilisers
- What does "organic" mean?
- How does organic fertilisers add value?
- Why should I use organic fertilisers?
- Application equipment
- Compliance and product registration
- Prescription Fertiliser Blends
Although the word “organic” is a very popular (and therefore somewhat confusing) term, we will use it strictly in the following: to refer to carbon-based substances of biological origin. In the context of soil nutrition we can further narrow the focus and turn our attention to humus – that organic material that through the action of micro-organisms is stabilized – like the most effective form of organic fertiliser.
Organic matter in the soil has several clearly measurable beneficial effects on essential processes taking place in the soil, for example:
- Improvement of soil structure through the formation of aggregates, which in addition also improves gas exchange capacity and permeability;
- Dramatic increase in cation exchange capacity and the formation of chelate – which protects nutrients from leaching but at the same time is readily available to plants;
- By holding up to 20 times its own mass in water close to it, the plant roots and organic materials prevents soil to a great extent from drying out and shrinking.
Many processes that are crucial to crop nutrition and productivity are carried out by living organisms in the soil. In addition to promoting beneficial soil microbial life, soil organic matter boosts:
- Cation Exchange Capacity
- Water Retention
- Soil Aggregate Formation
Agriman’s unique granular organic products are suitable for conventional and no-till application methods.
The shape, hardness, density and texture characteristics of our products make them suitable for blending with conventional granular fertilisers and application with no-till equipment directly where it matters.
Our product is registered with the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development as a Group II fertiliser in terms of the Fertiliser, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act No 36 of 1947.
Our product range has been approved by Departments of Health, Environmental Affairs, Water Affairs and Agriculture.
The Agriman product range provides a complete menu of macro and micro elements in the soil, available for planting. This means that additional macro and micro-elements must only be administered where a crop’s nutritional needs justify additional administration.
Our range of mixtures compares favourably with conventional chemical fertilizer mixtures in the SA market.
